James Bond earns his "licence to kill" and a promotion to a 00 agent by eliminating a traitor, Dryden, and his contact in Prague. In Uganda, Bond encounters Mr. White, who introduces Le Chiffre, a banker working with terrorists, to Steven Obanno. Le Chiffre gets $100 million from Obanno to manipulate stock prices by predicting a terrorist attack on Skyfleet.

Bond's mission takes him to Madagascar, where he captures and kills a bomb-maker named Mollaka. He then tracks leads to the Bahamas, uncovering a corrupt official named Dimitrios. After winning Dimitrios's car in a poker game and romancing his wife, Bond travels to Miami, where he confronts and eliminates Dimitrios.

At the airport, Bond thwarts an attack on Skyfleet's prototype airliner. Le Chiffre's plan unravels, and he loses Obanno's money. Suspecting a leak, Le Chiffre interrogates and accidentally kills Solange.

To recover the lost funds, Le Chiffre organizes a high-stakes poker tournament in Montenegro. MI6 sends Bond to play, and he partners with Vesper Lynd. Bond defeats Le Chiffre but is captured and tortured. Mr. White intervenes, killing Le Chiffre.

Bond wakes up in the hospital and falls for Vesper. He later resigns from MI6 and travels with her to Venice. However, he discovers Vesper's betrayal and attempts to save her when she's captured by gunmen. Vesper drowns, and Mr. White escapes with the money.

M informs Bond that Vesper was coerced into betraying him. Bond finds a lead and confronts Mr. White, shooting him in the leg. Bond delivers his iconic line: "The name's Bond, James Bond."\
